Candle Wax

There are many different types of candle wax currently being used in the candle-making industry. From natural waxes such as soy and beeswax to more chemical-based waxes such as paraffin, there are many different options from which to choose. Each type of wax has its own unique characteristics.

Paraffin is a very commonly used candle wax. While it can be used on its own, it is most often added to other waxes in order to enhance or alter the way a candle burns. It is basically a byproduct of petroleum refining, which is rather off-putting for some people. However, the truth is the majority of today’s candles are made, at least in part, from paraffin.

For many candle connoisseurs, naturally derived candle wax is the only way to go. Beeswax is the often considered the best, but other natural waxes such as soy, and palm can also be used. Soy candles are particularly popular for many of today’s consumers.
